Understanding Weight Loss

Everybody wants to lose weight but fail to understand the science and technique in losing weight. Almost everyone, who is interested in weight loss programs, knows about the intake and burning of calories. One has the basic idea, that in order to lose weight, one has to burn more calories than he or she digests. But what most people miss out on dieting and weight loss is the variable Metabolism. Our bodies generate energy they need from food through our metabolism, which converts the fuel from food to energy, for our daily activities. Two people with the same weight can take the same calories per day; still one may gain weight and the other might remain balanced. The difference here is the person who maintains his weight has a faster basal metabolic rate (BMR) or the ability to burn calories while at rest. Therefore, a person with a low BMR will burn fewer calories while relaxing or sleeping and thus gain more weight when taking calories. However, with proper dieting and an active lifestyle, you can maintain a high metabolic rate. Increase your body muscle to fat ratio and exercise on a regular basis to increase your BMR. Once you increase your BMR, you will burn more calories and thus make your life easier to lose weight in the future.
